Adath A "Acie" Shearer Obituary (1935 - 2018)

Adath A. "Acie" Shearer, 82, of Denton, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, June 21, 2018. Acie was born to Lyman and Viva (Sealock) Cook on November 11, 1935 in Loveland, Colorado. Acie's love of horses brought countless hours of enjoyment, and also many dear friends into her life. She found her true love, and one who shared the passion for horses in Lyle Shearer. They wed November 6, 1960 in Denver.In addition to raising and showing quarter horses with her husband, Acie enjoyed all animals. The family home was always shared with several pets. She loved the outdoors, the Rocky Mountains, flower gardening and bird watching. But mostly, she loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Acie was also an avid reader and kept a library of hundreds of books. She retired as Records Manager at the Department of Corrections after 23 years in 2003.Acie is survived by her husband, Lyle, two daughters, Lynne Gates (Martin) of Clinton, MO; Robyn Garden (Alex) of Pleasant Dale; grandchildren, Derek, Taylor, Martin, Jr., Ava Rose, brother, Merrill of Lincoln, niece, Holly (Bud) Waddle of Olathe, KS and the children Kelsey and Brendan.She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Viva Cook, sister, Dolores Hutchings, sister-in-law, Karen Cook, niece, Karen Sabin. 5200 R ST Lincoln, NE 68504
