She was born January 10, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of James Maurice and Pauline (Mulder) Helmink. She graduated from Firth High School with the class of 1964 and went to nursing school at Lincoln General. Arllys married Raymond Essink on December 6, 1968, in Holland, Nebraska. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years, serving others in hospital, nursing homes and doctor offices around Lincoln, Nebraska and retired from North Lincoln Family Medical. Arllys enjoyed perusing garage sales, eating homemade ice cream, meeting new friends, but most of all spoiling her grandchildren.\nArllys is survived by her husband of 52 years, Raymond Essink of Lincoln, NE; sons, Marc (Kendra) Essink of Bondurant, IA and Scott (Rebecca) Essink of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren, Scotty Essink Jr., Nicholas Essink, Aspen Essink, Kaiman Essink, Grayson Essink, Ella Essink, and Aysia Essink; step-mother, Marge Helmink; siblings, Lester (Juanita) Helmink, Betty (Randy) VanderSchaaf, Eunice (Kevin) Cramer, Fred (Kathy) Helmink, Mary Jean (Rod) TeKolste, and Linda (Dan) Mullin; six sister-in-laws and their spouses; along with numerous nieces and nephews.\nShe was preceded in death by her parents.
