Betty Thiessen

Betty Jo (Lisle) Thiessen

Betty Jo Thiessen passed away on April 26, 2026. She was born on January 29, 1939, and grew up in Louisville, Nebraska, the daughter of James and Dora Lisle.

In 1956, she married Gordon Dale Thiessen. They were blessed with two children, Gordon Thiessen Jr. (Terri), born in 1956, and Christine Sessler (Bill), born in 1959.
In her early years, Betty worked at Hy-Gain Electronics and McDonald’s while raising her young family. After the passing of her husband Gordon in 1974, she began working for L&T Telephone as an operator, where she served faithfully until her retirement in 1995.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed gardening, collecting jewelry, and dolls. She also cherished her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dora Lisle, and her husband, Gordon Thiessen.

She is survived by her son, Gordon (Terri)Thiessen of Omaha, Nebraska, and her daughter, Christine Sessler (Bill) of Lincoln, Nebraska. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, along with her cousin Mary Jo Colbert.

Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
