Chang Lin

–

Lincoln, Nebraska

Chang I "Carl" Lin, aged 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2026.

As a native of Taiwan, Carl immigrated to the United States to build his life and career. His journey brought him to Purdue University to pursue his Master's degree. During this time, he married his beloved wife, Chiasan "Susan" Lin, in 1972, beginning a devoted partnership of over 54 years.

In 1979, Carl and his family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he continued his academic pursuits at the University of Nebraska, earning his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 1985. After working in academia for a time, Carl embraced his entrepreneurial spirit. He was exceptionally proud to bring fast-casual Chinese-American cuisine to Lincoln as the founder of Egg Roll King, establishing the city's first drive-through Chinese restaurant.

Carl was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a trailblazing entrepreneur whose warmth and dedication left a lasting mark on his family and the Lincoln community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Lin; his daughter, Susie Chen and her husband, John Chen, along with their children, Jonathan, Christopher, and Benjamin; and his son, Louie Lin and his wife, Wendy Yee, along with their daughter, Sophie.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
