Douglas O ' Dell

–

Bellevue, Nebraska

Douglas Dale O’Dell, 62, was born on April 23, 1964, in Oshkosh, Nebraska, to Robert “Bob” and Karen O’Dell. He passed away on September 19, 2026, in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Doug graduated from North Platte High School in 1982 and continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, graduating magna cum laude in 1988. He began his career at Linweld and later spent the final 16 years of his career with Datacor/TrackAbout, where he served as Vice President of Sales. Doug was proud of his work, but the relationships he built along the way meant even more to him.

Above all else, the people in his life were the most cherished thing to him. His two sons, Tanner and Ryan, were the light of his life. His proudest role was as father, and grandfather. Being Papo to Silas, Jones, and Annie brought him immeasurable happiness. The memories they made together and lessons passed onto them will live in their hearts eternally.

Doug shared the last 11 years of his life with his longtime partner and best friend, Kim. Together they built a life filled with unwavering love, devotion, and lots of laughter. They shared a love of time spent on the lake, days outside fishing, dates full of belly laughs and found peace in the ordinary everyday moments. They were happiest doing anything as long as it was together, and nothing brought them more joy than being with their grandkids.

Remarkably active, Doug shared his love of the outdoors with his family, spending time on the water and teaching his kids and grandkids how to fish. Doug also loved riding his bike and watching Husker football, a passion shared especially with his son Ryan.

Doug will be remembered as an easygoing, generous, make-you-laugh kind of friend, a man of true integrity. Whether as a father, grandfather, partner, or friend he enriched the lives of so many through his willingness to help, kind heart, humor and unconditional love.

His legacy will live on in the people he loved, the things he built and fixed, the lessons he taught us, and the stories and memories that will be told for generations to come.

Doug is survived by his sons, Tanner and his wife Maradeth, Ryan and his wife Morgan; his beloved partner, Kimberly Williams; his cherished grandchildren, Silas, Jones, and Annie; his mother, Karen O’Dell; his brothers, Kurt O’Dell (Carla) and Mike O’Dell (Donna); his nephews, Cullen and Craig O’Dell, and Austin and Eric O’Dell; his former wife and mother of his children, Merri Jo Collins O’Dell; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” O’Dell, and his grandparents.

We welcome his friends and community to join us for a celebration of life in October. Details to follow.
