Gary Jorgens Sr.

It is with profound sadness and everlasting love that we announce the passing of Gary Jay Jorgens Sr., who was born on November 25, 1937, in Ellendale, ND, and passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026. Gary lived a life full of laughter, kindness, and dedication. He was a funny soul whose witty humor could lighten up any room and whose loving nature was the comfort in every heart. Gary's dedication shone bright in his service to the country, retiring from the US Air Force, a testament to the brave and committed man he was.

Gary, also known as the "Cuckoo Doc," had a passion for repairing clocks, a hobby that reflected his meticulous nature and his appreciation for the passage of time. In his earlier years, he found joy in gardening, deer hunting, and fishing, sharing these moments with his grandchildren and creating precious memories. Gary was a dedicated member of several clubs, including the Sesostris Shrine, North Star Masonic Lodge #227, VFW #3606, American Legion, and Eagles Club, where he formed lasting friendships and made significant contributions. His most valued achievement was his beautiful family, as he was happily married to his beloved wife, Rose, for 67 years.

Gary is survived by the love of his life, Rose; children, Margaret McGrevey, Gary Jr. (Sara) Jorgens, Carla Jorgens, Jeff (Amy) Jorgens; grandchildren, Mark (Fiona) McGrevey, Alyson McGrevey, Angie (Paul) Jedlicka, Kelsey (Brad) Drewes, Justin (Natalie) Jorgens, Kaili (Chandler) Lipsys; great-grandchildren, Vayda Jorgens, Grant Jedlicka, Carly Jedlicka, Max McGrevey, Willow McGrevey, Ailill Drewes, Friedrich Drewes.

He was preceded by his parents, Halvor and Fern Jorgens; son, Patrick John; brothers, Neil, Don, Jack; sister, Jean.

Visitation service will be held in memory of Gary on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68504.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel, 5200 R Street.
