Howard Nachtman

–

Lincoln, Nebraska

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Howard A. Nachtman, a man who never knew a stranger, whose infectious laughter and unforgettable wit left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. Born on December 10, 1951, in O'Neill, NE, Howard was a man who found joy in the simple things that life offers. Howard lived by, crafting a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting memories.

A quintessential outdoorsman, Howard cherished his time under the vast Nebraska skies as a respected and accomplished rancher. But Howard was much more than a rancher. He was an avid hunter, a skillful trapper, and a patient fisherman. Yet, what he loved most was not the thrill of the chase but the chance to share these passions with his beloved grandkids. His generosity of spirit was never more apparent than when he was teaching them the secrets of his trade, his eyes twinkling with joy and pride.

Howard leaves behind his loving wife Kathy; children: Kipp Nachtman of Atlantic, IA; Kasey (Virgie) Nachtman of Lincoln, NE; Sasha (Colter) Hilger of Raymore, MO; & Meagan Nachtman of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren: Ethan (Kristin) Nachtman of Atlantic, IA; Jacob (Payton) Nachtman of Osceola, NE; Colton Nachtman of Atlantic, IA; Kade (Josie) Nachtman Walnut, IA; Bergan Hilger of Kansas City, MO; Bailey Hilger of Decatur, GA; Grayden Hilger of Raymore, MO; Silas Sanchez of Lincoln, NE; & Olivia Nachtman of Atlantic, IA; great-granddaughter: Lainey Nachtman of Walnut, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy Nachtman. His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, beginning with a visitation at 10:30am CDT at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home (5200 R Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68504), followed by a luncheon at 11:30am CDT, and concluding with a funeral service at 1:00pm CDT.

Howard's wit, humor, and generosity touched the hearts of many. As we bid farewell to Howard, let us remember the shared laughter, the quiet conversations, and the happy times. Don’t be afraid to smile at these memories, for they are proof of a life beautifully lived.

We invite you to share your fondest memories of Howard and upload photos to his memorial page, creating a tapestry of love and remembrance, a testament to a life that was, in every sense, truly remarkable.
