Isarene Walker Obituary (1924 - 2021)

Isarene "Icey" Walker, 96, of Lincoln, NE, a most generous and angelic soul, took her last breath and transitioned to her heavenly home, peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021 surrounded by her daughters. Momma Icey was the only child born to the union of Isom Harris and Roxie Ann Cotton in Tillar, AR on August 13, 1924. Her mother was the first Church Mother and instrumental in the foundation of Angelic Temple Church of God in Christ in Lincoln, NE, where Momma Icey's membership and love for the Davis' family continued until her death. She was educated in the Arkansas Public Schools System. She had a life-long love affair with cooking, a talent that was passed down from her mother. She worked in the cottonfields, local nursing homes, cafeterias of the Lincoln Public Schools System, fraternities and sororities of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Lancaster Manor. She fell in love, married twice, and gave birth to eleven daughters and two sons, but raised many others. Momma Icey enjoyed the casinos and always looked forward to hosting the holidays for family and friends. Momma Icey was preceded in death by her parents, uncles Jessie "Jack" Cotton, Robert Cotton, Charley Cotton, aunts Katie Bell (Cotton) Crawford, Novola (Cotton) Harris, daughters Zoreda Harris, Juanita Harris, Florida Harris, Jacquelyn Walker and son Theodore Walker, Jr. Momma Icey is survived by her children: Eloise "Cookie" Harris (Kansas City, KS), Marie (Harris) Zachary (Roeland, KS), Johnny Moore (Lincoln, NE) Theodora Annette Walker (St. Louis, MO), Janice Michelle Walker (Everett, WA), Sharon Kay, Judith Renee and Gwendolyn Ann Walker (Lincoln, NE). Momma Icey was appointed as the legal guardian of Stephanie Shanrell and Sloane Roxanne Walker after the untimely death of their mother Jacquelyn Ann Walker. 33 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 62 great great grandchildren. Momma Icey's Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 6024 L Street, Lincoln, NE 68510. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial Service will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. Repass will follow immediately after services at City Impact, 1035 North 33rd Street, Lincoln, NE 68503 Momma Icey's Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 6024 L Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
