Jay Petersen

Jay Petersen, a lifelong resident of Nebraska, born on August 28, 1985, in Norfolk, NE, passed away on July 14, 2025. Jay was a captivating spirit, known for his adventurous nature, compassionate heart, and an infectious humor that brought joy to everyone he met. Undeniably loyal, Jay's commitment to his family and work was unwavering. His mischievous smile, a trademark of his, was a testament to his playful nature and a beacon of his jovial personality.

Jay was a dedicated laborer who found immense pleasure in his work. His passion for construction was evident in his attention to detail and the pride he took in his work. Tools were not just tools for Jay; they were his companions, his joy, and a symbol of his dedication to his craft. His work was his hobby, and he loved every moment of it. Jay brought the same passion and dedication to his personal life. What mattered most to him was spending quality time with his children and family. He cherished these moments and made them count.

Jay is survived by his children, Ashlynn, Kinzlie Petersen; step-son, Dantevious Kolb; mother, Denise (Richard) Garcia; siblings, Jennifer Petersen, Jeff Petersen; nieces and nephews, Jadyn Keenan, Ava Petersen, Ashton Petersen. He is also survived by the love of his life Danna Kolb.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Petersen; paternal grandparents, Elwin and Ruth Petersen; maternal grandparents, Delbert and Betty Bauer; aunt, Barbara Uehling.

Celebration of Life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street.

Jay would request casual attire.
