Laura Lea Boone Obituary (1948 - 2024)

Laura Lea Boone, 76, passed away March 26, 2024 in Lincoln. She was born on February 17, 1948, in Lincoln, NE to Alexander and Esther Sterkel. She attended Seward High School, and tech school, studying to become a laboratory technician. She married Richard Grieser March 21, 1969, they had a daughter, Michelle. Laura worked at Crete Hospital, Lincoln General Hospital and many other hospitals in eastern and central NE. She met and married the love of her life, Kevin Boone, on February 14, 1980. She became head laboratory technician at Schuyler Hospital and worked there until her retirement. She is survived by her husband Kevin Boone, Ceresco, NE; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Tim Holman, Minden, NE; three grandchildren, Austin (Amanda) Holman, Dickson, TN; Brianna Holman, Hastings, NE; Christian Holman, Minden, NE; nieces Pam (Faith) Casey, Chattanooga, TN; Dawn Nickel, Las Vegas, NV; Tess (Michael) Thompson, Bonney Lake, WA; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Ellie and Kynlee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Esther Sterkel; sisters Jorgia Sherrill and Diane Sterkel; nieces Terri Lee and Rechel Jackson. She was an avid reader, loved crosswords, trivia, cooking shows and was a wealth of useless knowledge. She loved spending time with her husband, her fur-babies (Maggie, Tipper, and Sidney), her daughter and son-in-law, hearing about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them when she could. She was a great wife, mom, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by anyone who had the pleasure of truly knowing her. May her soul forever soar and dance with the light of a thousand angels shining upon her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Gifts and endowments presented to the family will be utilized for future memorial tree planting and/or a contribution to a cancer foundation to be named at a later date.
