"In Lee's own word when she was a Gramercy resident spotlight where she lived"'Lee was born in North Dakota, "Cold Country". Her parents came from Germany, met and married, having 11 children. Lee was the youngest and "spoiled rotten by dad". As a child she would climb the windmill and would daringly hang from the top by her feet. After high school, she had one year of junior college, and then went to work for the core of engineers while they were building the Garrison Dam. Employees were able to walk the floor of the dam before water was put in and it was quite intimating. Though Lee had several jobs, her favorite was being head cook at Madonna for 11 years. She daily cooked meals for 500 people and loved it! Lee had 6 children and greatest achievement is raising the children on her own and paying off her home after her husband left the family. She "loves them to death." Lee will have lived a year in Gramercy on the 4th of July. She never thought she would enjoy it so much, as she has met some very nice people. Lee's words of wisdom are "Enjoy life and family."
