Lorance Henry Newburn II Obituary (1939 - 2015)

Lorance Henry Newburn II received his ultimate promotion on February 14, 2015 as he passed into eternal life, absent from the body and face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lorance was born on May 25, 1939 in Lincoln, NE, to Lorance and Marjorie (Betz) Newburn. The family lived in the Belmont community until 1952 when they moved to Northeast Lincoln where Lorance attended Havelock Junior High and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School June, 1957. In June of 1960, Lorance and Roberta (Chadwell) were joined in marriage. Lorance graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Chemistry and Math in June, 1962. Following graduation, he and Roberta moved to St. Louis, MO where Lorance worked for Mallinckrodt Chemical Works as an analytical chemist. Within months, it became clear there truly is no place like Nebraska. Eventually, Lorance found a job in Lincoln with Harris Laboratories (Celerion) and the family moved back to Lincoln. In November of 1966, Lorance found his lifetime job with Instrumentation Specialties Company (ISCO) in sales and marketing, eventually becoming National and International Sales Manager for environmental products, where he managed twenty-eight domestic sales agencies and fifty international dealers. Lorance's love of hunting and shooting led him to pursue his real passion - custom gunsmithing and collecting fine firearms. He was well-known in Southeast Nebraska as a premier gunsmith. That passion did not die until Lorance took his last breath. He was a proud Benefactor - Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. His legacy and love of firearms will be carried on in all the guns he ever worked on or owned as well as through those individuals whose guns he customized or repaired. Lorance's love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was apparent in every area of his life - how he lived, how he loved and how he died. Sprague Community Church in Sprague, NE was his home church for the past sixteen years. Lorance is survived by: his wife, Roberta of nearly 55 years; his daughters and families - Kristina (Larry) Bruder and Josie of Plano, TX; Karen (Roger) Heusinkvelt and Ray and Maggie of Martell, NE; his son and family - Lorance III "Hank" (Shannon) Newburn and Jacob, Haley and Molly of Seward, NE; his sister, Susan Sailors of Lincoln, NE; his brothers-in-law - Eugene Chadwell of Lincoln; Tom and Deana Chadwell of Central Point, OR; William Chadwell of Omaha; his sisters-in-law - Judy and Bob Clark of Omaha; and Janice Nelson of Lincoln, NE; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
