Patricia Ann Young

Patricia Ann Young, 76, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully in her home on April 14, 2026. Services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00am at the Valentine Methodist church. A private inurnment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.

Patricia (Pat) was born on June 23, 1949 in Valentine to PH and Beverly (Hall) Young. Pat grew up on the family ranch with her parents, two brothers and one sister. She rode her pony to the Cherry County Country School District No. 20 through 8th grade. She spent the next two years attending the Nebraska school of Agriculture in Curtis, NE. She returned to Valentine for her junior and senior year of school, graduating in 1967.

After graduation Pat lived with her cousins Charlie and Ruth Werner of Concordia, Kansas. While there she gave birth to a daughter in February of 1968, that she gave up for adoption. Pat went on to attend nursing school in Texas, but due to her asthma was only able to attend one semester. She then moved to Arizona where she was to spend the next 50 years. While in Arizona, she attended Glendale Community College and graduated in Nursing to receive her RN. She spent the next 40 years in service to the Phoenix area working in several hospitals. She worked as a floor nurse in several different departments, including being a dialysis nurse. For several years she was a manager of a call center that triages patients. Her last employment was as a social worker for the emergency department at the Deer Valley Hospital in North Phoenix.

In January of 1996 she was able to be reunited with her daughter Jennifer Pohlmeier, where they were finally able to meet in person in April of 1996 in Lindsay, Nebraska. They continued their long distance relationship until 2016 when Jennifer moved to Arizona to live with her mother. In 2022 Pat returned to Nebraska with her daughter to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to do many crafts, including teaching others the art of artex painting on fabric. She dreamed of retiring and selling her crafts at festivals and fairs, but due to her failing health she was never able to fulfill that dream. She did enjoy watching TV, especially sports (football, volleyball, basketball) cheering for both Arizona and Nebraska college teams. She almost never lived alone as she always had a faithful dog at her side. Her dogs were her children.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Pohlmeier of Lincoln; grandchildren, Philip Pohlmeier of Lincoln, Molly Goodwater (Ryan Johnson) of Wahoo, NE with great-granddaughter Amilia Christiansen; Garrett (Alaysha) Moravec of Commerce City, CO with great-granddaughter Sophia Moravec; brothers, Paul (Pat) Young of Valentine, NE, Roger Young of Casa Grande, AZ and Silverton, CO; sister, Phyllis Daniels of Crookston, NE, along with several nieces and nephews.

Patricia was proceeded in death by her parents PH and Beverly Young.
