Lincoln, Nebraska
Trudy Grace Irwin passed away on October 11, 2026, at her home, with her caring and loving husband, Larry, by her side. Trudy was born on February 16, 1950 in Bassett, Nebraska to parents, Velma and Dude Vetter.
She graduated in 1968 from Ponca High School in Ponca, Nebraska. She went on to work in different career fields, was an incredibly hard worker, and spent the last 40 years as a paralegal working in law firms. She was a valued employee who was reliable and dedicated.
In 1978, Trudy had her only child, Toby.
In 2000, she met Larry Irwin, who became the love of her life. They spent their time adventuring and making memories.
Trudy loved to laugh, dance, spend time with family over the coffee counter, and piddle in her yard. She loved trinkets, small pleasures, creativity, and found beauty and awe in the bits and pieces of life that a lot of us would overlook. She loved simplicity, was kind, and never knew a stranger. She took pleasure in playing volleyball and softball. She was a true artist that could create almost anything. Trudy was a beautiful painter and seamstress. She enjoyed sewing all of her daughter Toby's Halloween costumes and prom dresses when she was younger and making paintings for her only grandchild, Perla.
The home and gardens that Trudy and Larry cared for became a quirky, colorful place that made people stop when they drove by. She had many talents, but cooking was not her forte. She was always assigned the “relish tray” at family gatherings.
She leaves behind her sister Reenie Turpin of Lincoln, Nebraska, brother Dail (Vonnie) Vetter of Cozad, Nebraska, daughter Toby (Landon) Hostetter of Winfield, Kansas, granddaughter Perla of Winfield, Kansas, her husband, Larry Irwin, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Trudy’s celebration of life will be at the Miller-Long VFW, 3340 West A Street in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 21. 2026 from 5-9.
